Arpana Delhi Slum Project, India, 2007
The Arpana Trust is a charitable organization in India working in the field of socio-economic development and education. Arpana's education program benefits over 1406 students from Molar Bund, a slum resettlement in the outskirt of Delhi. Arpana's classrooms ccontrast with difficult living conditions in the slum. Class attendance is high and children are eager to learn. Arpana tuition classes help young girls find the tools to get out of a vicous cycle of poverty and ignorance. Students attend Arpana's tuition classes to supplement the deficiency of public schools.
Images of Arpana's classrooms are put side by side with those of the slum outside. Looking at the alertness and dedication of the children in the class, it is hard to believe that these children come from the slum next door. The children are fully aware of their harsh environment.
These tuitions schools are 100% funded by donations. For more information, suggestions and donations please refer to www.arpana.org or at@arpana.org
